Colon Hydrotherapy at Coyle Institute

Gut health is incredibly important to optimize total body health. Considering that gut imbalances can lead to acne, reduced immunity, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, fatigue, food allergies and other unpleasant issues, it makes perfect sense to prioritize proper colon health. To help our patients support their gut health, we are pleased to offer colon hydrotherapy—a safe process for colon cleansing. Colon hydrotherapy works by gently introducing warm water into the colon for the purpose of softening and eliminating waste.

Benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy

Hydration of the colon is essential for proper functioning and waste elimination. By supporting colon hydration, colon hydrotherapy can result in a multitude of benefits for patients. After promoting the loosening and elimination of waste matter from the colon, evacuation occurs through natural peristalsis. Then, after repeating this process a few times over the course of a series of sessions, issues of occasional constipation can be resolved. This removal of waste during colon hydrotherapy treatments should encourage better colon function and waste elimination.

What to Expect During Colon Hydrotherapy

Most of our patients find colon hydrotherapy to be a comfortable experience. Rest assured, however, that the treatment can be stopped at any time in the event of discomfort. For the treatment, our certified colon hydrotherapist begins by having patients lie on their left side while inserting the speculum; a drape or gown is used for comfort and modesty. Next, our colon hydrotherapist will introduce warm water into the colon, gently stimulating the colon’s natural peristaltic action to release softened waste. The inflow of a small amount of water and the release of water may be repeated several times. Patients are able to lie comfortably on their backs while being completely covered during this part of the session.

What to Expect After Colon Hydrotherapy

It is common to feel refreshed, rejuvenated and re-energized after colon hydrotherapy. Many patients enjoy the benefits of colon hydrotherapy so much that they schedule routine treatments for optimal health maintenance. Just as how some people exercise on a daily or weekly basis to tone and tighten their outer body, some people choose to undergo their own ongoing cleansing, toning and rebuilding regimen for their inner body.

Is Colon Hydrotherapy Safe?

Colon hydrotherapy is a safe process for colon cleansing and is an accepted preparation for colonoscopy. Especially when performed by properly trained hydrotherapists such as our own, using FDA-registered equipment, colon hydrotherapy is absolutely safe for patients with no contraindications. When it comes to sanitation, Coyle Institute is second-to-none. Our equipment is manufactured in compliance with strict federal guidelines that dictate rigorous accountability. Disposable, single-use rectal tubes are always used and our facility is immaculately clean.

For some people with contraindications, colon hydrotherapy is not safe. If you experience any of the following, you should not undergo colon hydrotherapy:

  • Acute abdominal pain

The Coyle Institute Difference

Colon hydrotherapy treatments offered by medi-spas or untrained practitioners can be dangerous. Under the direction of our own Dr. Michael Coyle, the nation’s first Board Certified Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgeon, our patients are in the best possible hands. Before recommending colon hydrotherapy, your medical history will be assessed and any potential risks explained. Based on the findings from your consultation, other treatments or therapies may be recommended to help you achieve optimal health. Since gut health is so central to the proper functioning of many other bodily systems and functions, colon hydrotherapy treatments are generally worthwhile.

Supporting a healthy gut is more accessible now than ever before with safe, gentle colon hydrotherapy. With only highly filtered warm water, the gut can be easily rehydrated and primed for better functioning—without the need for pharmaceuticals.
